Well, I am getting a bit tired of having a blog in one place, a podcast in another, and a wiki in another place. So I am going to attempt to have this as my Virtual PIoneer blog. So, please, if you come to this post. Send a reply so I know that someone out there is following along.

Thanks for the welcome. Is there an FAQ about this site someplace? I am looking for a place to host a virtual world that is closed to others. Ex: For a group of students and that group of students only, to work in a 2nd life type of environment.

Thanks for the help and I look forward to learning more!

Andrew,
It was great meeting you in real life at NECC! I'm sure we'll see a lot of you in Second Life, too!

Derek,

You are soooo right. I think that WNYRIC is in the early stages of doing just that (getting an island). We are running a workshop in the fall and hopefully in the summer to get people started and we will see where we go from here.

I will keep you posted.

Hey Andrew,
BOCES should purchase an island or some land as a start so teachers have somewhere to meet with classes for collaboration. I guess the challenge is how do we keep things open so you can talk to just about anyone but still keep it safe for kids? It seems like you have to get of the main grid but then you are missing all the other sites that can help this process....
